Re: Cant install P3D v4.2

It doesn't help that I cant find out how to insert the log file here. I had the sim installed in the past, then deleted everything to reinstall it, went through all of my drives and deleted everything Lockheed Martin and then tried to reinstall and this happens.

Cant install P3D v4.2

I am trying to install P3D V4 and I get this log file message:

"Prepar3D v4 Content requires Prepar3D v4 to be installed"

Basically it says it has to be installed, yet I am trying to install it...

Re: How do you add minute details like grass in the sim?

I know this is going to be a very simple question but I actually did not see it in the SDK, what is the scale at which models are supposed to be built at?

This is all I found:

"Verify Scale: If this is checked, all objects will be tested to make sure their scale is [1,1,1] or 100%"

How do you add minute details like grass in the sim?

I was wondering how small details like grass are added into the sim for an airport. Is it just added into 3ds Max like all other buildings and such then exported into the sim?

Re: how to create and edit roads in P3D

Hmm, I was wondering if I could add roads the same way I would add a runway, is this possible?

For instance, if I have a road that goes in front of the runway and I want people to see Max detail on approach, couldn't I just polygons model that portion of it?

Can I use Aerofly 2 documents to learn P3D Dev?

Hi, Is the development process between Aerofly FS 2 and P3D V4 similar? The only reason I ask is because the P3D documents are essentially a rats nest of giberish, no images,, outdated, and are rediculously difficult to understand. As far as I can tell there are a lot of similarities, and I think I ...

Re: Turning Airport Runway and Taxiway into Polys

Yeah, I probably shouldn't jump the gun and get ahead of myself. I will look into it more. The only thing I don't like about the SDK manual is that it is like a maze, written by a computer, just cut and dry and not a lot of answers. I will read about it though and any questions I have ill ask.

Thanks

Re: Turning Airport Runway and Taxiway into Polys

I presume then that I would do that after I create the base of the airport? The runways and parking spots are pretty much like putting down spawn points right? I will have to try to find the information about runways and such, I think I remember reading that I would have to basically input all of my...

Re: Turning Airport Runway and Taxiway into Polys

Ok , so I could make one big file if I wanted to. My other question then is, how would I make the entire scene in max then import it into the simulator? Would it have to be piece by piece like you stated, in individual files? I am confused about how I would accurately place the airport into the simu...

Turning Airport Runway and Taxiway into Polys

Hi, Is this essentially how you would create an airport taxiway and runway, just going into 3ds Max and create the entire airport by laying out planes? The SDK is rather crude and extremely difficult to understand, in fact I don't even think it mentions this. If I get 50cm res sat imagery then essen...

Limitations of P3D V4?

Hey guys, I am preparing to start working on a scenery in P3D V4 in the coming months and am thinking a little bit about the potential limitations I may run into. What should I watch out for? I don't want to end up having more polygons or vertices than the sim can handle. My main focus is going to b...

Hello,

This is probably a stupid question, but does P3D V4 use PBR?

Thanks

Re: Terrain elevations for airports like small hills, inclines, dips etc.

I have used ADE, I think that is from Scruffy Duck or whatever it is. Every time I go to that website my AV warns me and once on a different PC it installed a virus of some sort. I don't particularly trust it, and I always had a problem where it would not find my installation folders. I am planning ...

Re: Terrain elevations for airports like small hills, inclines, dips etc.

Hi Max, OK, this is one of the things I am hung up on. I have read through the SDK and did not see some things in there, it isn't exactly the easiest, most in depth document to read and understand for beginners. What you said about the flattening surface makes sense though. As of now I am working on...

Terrain elevations for airports like small hills, inclines, dips etc.

How are inclines, hills, dips and such added into an airport scenery? Lets say there is a gulley next to the runway in the grass for water to run into and it is 3 feet deep, how is it added into the virtual airport in P3D? Or what about an incline on a taxiway where there is a very visible curve upw...
