Re: P3D v4.2 G-Sync not working...

Coming at this from a different angle (I was researching the G-Sync issue elsewhere as it might not be P3D-related), someone mentioned terminating the dwm.exe process (desktop). It restarts immediately and this might help your G-Sync issue even after you have rebooted Win 10. I would close any displ...

Did anyone figure out an answer to this?

Re: Extremely low FPS with dynamic lighting solved by panning

I made a quick video of the way this looks on the PMDG 747 at a gate in KMSP. Flight is loaded, steady low FPS below 10, then I pan left, then right and jump to 35-40. I don't think I can attach here, so here is the link (password is "prepar3d": https://vimeo.com/223842659. Hope this can h...

Re: Extremely low FPS with dynamic lighting solved by panning

Hi Kayla, It's kind of hard testing with a default aircraft and no add-ons, because there is nothing in default aircraft/scenery that is that demanding. I tried with fresh XML's (all 6) and the F-35 at Langley, but my initial FPS is in the 50's regardless, so the phenomena never has a chance to happ...

Re: Extremely low FPS with dynamic lighting solved by panning

Issue remains after Hotfix. Most pronounced at gate on dynamic-enabled airport, so I would assume it has to do with either the number of dynamic light sources, or the number of objects that must be lit by dynamic light, or both.

Extremely low FPS with PMDG 747 and dynamic lighting solved by panning

This is an issue I have had with dynamic lighting at night/dusk/dawn. If I load a situation with dynamic lighting on, complex airport (dynamic lighting-enabled or not, for instance EHAM or KMSP) and complex aircraft (PMDG 747 especially but also 777, 717), I have about a steady 5 FPS when the flight...

Re: P3D V4 Massive FPS drop after view change

I don't think so Beau, but I will test this specifically tonight, as well as a couple of other things such as whether my focus/FPS issue is monitor-related or application-related, and whether I can trigger the FPS increase by looking away on any outside view and in any direction. One always thinks o...

Re: P3D V4 Massive FPS drop after view change

I'm having a couple of issues related to both Fjord_Flyer and samsoir, so I'll post here to advance the topic. Like Fjord, I've had this happen on and off so narrowing down the cause is quite hard. Results seem to change after computer reboot. When it does happen though, it seems consistent. Dual mo...

Re: Massive FPS drop with landing lighs

Hey Kevin, Thanks very much for the follow-up! I will keep playing with the settings you mentioned to try and find a sweet spot. Dynamic lighting is an interesting new beast and I have not doubt that it has a great future and things will improve when V4 matures. I assume that at this time the max li...

Re: Massive FPS drop with landing lighs

As a follow-up, I've managed to deal with landing lights as they are usually needed far away from an airport's main light sources, but the fact remains that dynamic lighting for me is a pretty feature for future hardware but appears unusable at this stage, unless I am missing something. Sitting at a...

Re: Massive FPS drop with landing lighs

Same here, depending on view (VC or outside) and direction (towards light or not), turning landing lights on, specifically in the PMDG 747, costs anywhere from 10 to 25 FPS. Worse at night of course. I tried lowering the MAX_POINT_LIGHTS and MAX_SPOT_LIGHTS values but it eventually leads to VC light...

Re: Possible new VAS issue in v3.4

Quick update as I just remembered I was actually the OP here... My testing has been absolutely random, I am ashamed to report, and I have no hard facts to post despite Beau's kind intervention and request for feedback. That being said, I have not had an OOM since shortly after starting this thread, ...

Re: Possible new VAS issue in v3.4

I remember messing with UseGlobalTerrainView=True a while back, but I'm pretty sure I reset to default after that (I'm not at that computer now). I don't know if that could affect VAS positively or negatively but it does have to do with cameras. One thing is for sure, until a few days ago when I sta...

Re: Possible new VAS issue in v3.4

The coffin corner of simulation, I like that! It is true that all sims seem to bank more on eye-candy building than on stability and performance improvement. Indeed, though, wouldn't pros require stability before they need pretty clouds? And I also completely agree with your analysis of our huge inv...

Re: Possible new VAS issue in v3.4

It feels like we have taken a double step back from the recent improvement where VAS was finally being better restored as unused scenery was flushed out. That being said, I cannot even duplicate an OOM by repeating the same steps, so there appears to be random factors, and I wonder if the culprit co...
