Recently I encountered two places with spikes and a lake not level:

This is close to SESA Airport S2° 12.87' W80° 57.17'
Image
This is near SEGU Airport at S2° 12.37" W80° 1.32
Image
and a lake with canyons near SEGU at S2° 12.42" W80° 5.97"

Here´s a little scenery fix made by myself in case someone wants it

Don´t know, if my data is corrupted or if this mesh is just bad. I disabled other mesh for testing. This is vanilla P3D5.2 HF1

Regards

Dan

Hey, so I don't see these in my development build. I haven't fixed anything here since 5.2 so I don't know what's wrong yet. The terrain spikes like that can be caused by water set to bad elevations, so I don't think it's the terrain mesh.

Max,

For what it it worth, I had "spikes" like that in FSX (also called artifacts). They went away with buffering in FSX.CFG, but the system I had back then was not very powerful.

I just disabled ORBX mesh in that area, but not their landclass and the spikes and the lake remained unchanged. I thought it must be a mesh spike. Since we are already two having this, it can not be a false value due to a transfer failure.

Fly directly over the top of the spikes, and see if there is a giant hole or a peak of the spike, maybe you will see the tiny water feature that is not set to the correct DEM elevation. Out of curiosity, have you tried 5.3 yet?

Max -- were there corrections made in 5.3 for scenery? The version history doesn't mention any.

Keep up the good work!

The spikes are still there with 5.3. There´s no lake on the ground. That´s the one near Salinas SESA.

There´s a hole in the ground in the middle of the spikes, but no water. The area on the ground is small, can´t go completely down with the plane in slew mode.

With my patch it is flat as it should be.

I installed 5.3 today and it feels more fluent than before. However texture loading is still an issue. Black objects when turning around.

There´s one more discovered today

S2° 8.53' W80° 46.07'

I´ll update my patch.
