[RESOLVED] PD3 4.3 and 4.2 Installations

Postby cmck » Thu Jul 12, 2018 7:14 pm

Hi I updated to 4.3 with no problems I used the client install method and went with out a hitch. My Ultimate Traffic Live and FS Global Real Weather addons both work fine. I now have two installations on one drive. Can I use both installations? Can I move 4.2 to another drive or delete that folder without messing up the 4.3 installation? Basically when I updated using the client method the installers just put all the new folders on my E: drive along with the current 4.2 folder. Thanks for any advice. CMCK

Hello cmck

Welcome to the Prepar3D Forum

Did you first uninstall the v4.2 Client before you Installed the v4.3 Client ? This is required to update successfully.

Can you confirm your current Prepar3D version number.....

Launch Prepar3D Click Help > About Lockheed Martin your version number should now be Prepar3D v4.3.29.25520

Let us know how you get on

I think you misunderstood my post. I have the new version 4.3 working fine. I now have 2 installations with 4.3 and 4.2 on my E drive. My questions are 1. Can I use both versions? Can I move the older 4.2 version to another drive or delete it without causing any problems to the new version 4.3 Thanks for your reply!

Can I use both versions?

Hello cmck

No, All minor versions of Prepar3D, Example: v4.2 v4.3, use the same registry entries to tie the program to Windows.

You can Install and use all major versions of Prepar3D on same machine no problem, Example: v2, v3, v4 but not minor versions.

Can I move the older 4.2 version to another drive or delete it without causing any problems to the new version 4.3

If you are launching Prepar3D from the desktop Icon and you can confirm this version is in fact v4.3 by following my post above ? Well then Yes you can move or delete the v4.2 Install folder.

Yes when I launch 4.3 from the desktop it definitely shows as 4.3.29.25520 when I click about in the menu bar. Thanks for your help and replies Poppet. Upgrading for me was much easier than I thought it would be. Make sure you follow the instructions and you should be good to go. The Client method was a snap. CMCK
