[RESOLVED] P3D V4.3 VR issues with SteamVR and Oculus

Postby MartinM » Wed Jun 27, 2018 10:59 am

Hi

Based on earlier discussion. Let me summarize the issue.

Upon launch of P3D, the SteamVR client is being started up too, although Oculus Core 2 is already up and running. While in game, this leads to some strange effect, like the SteamVR software is trying to sync the headset. While i have no stuttering by P3D, the time the SteamVR view resyncs, I am out of the cockpit and if this happens on final, I will be dead.

Another issue is that I get the chaperon doubled. I constantly see the chaperon from SteamVR and if I move my headset into the boundaries of the Oculus chaperon, the grid from Oculus shows up. Not very convenient.

On the other side, if I don't launch Oculus Home, Core 2 V1.28, the headset will not work in SteamVR either

Further more, if, after loading P3D V4.3 at the home screen, i close SteamVR, then the sim gets a CTD

Basically I am stuck now. The other sims run with Oculus only. V4.2 was running with Oculus only. I'ld love to disable SteamVR

Please fix.

Thanks
Martin

Hello,

Thanks for creating the new post.

We have seen issues in the past with having both SteamVR and Oculus Home on the same computer.

Are your graphics drivers updated? Are SteamVR and Oculus Home updated?

If VR is enabled, closing SteamVR will pull Prepar3D down with it; however, SteamVR presents a pop up that lets you know this first. Are you seeing that pop up?

Thanks,
Kayla

I am still having issues.

SteamVR keeps showing the home screen for a few seconds, while flying, about ever 30sec. This is disgusting. Today I will do the last resort, trade off all my SteamVR games for P3D v4.3, and uninstall SteamVR client. Hope this sorts my issue.

Martin

Not sure if this can help.....

Can you create a batch file to rename the Steam exe so it fails to run and one to return it to it's normal name?

That way you perhaps can disable Steam so you can use P3D unhindered whilst LM and Steam work on a fix.

Also you'll be able to keep all your games on Steam and use them too?

Just a shot in the dark....:)

Hello,

Does any of your hardware have a firmware update?

Are your graphics drivers updated?

Have you tried uninstalling Oculus Home?

Hello Kyla

No update for my hardware is needed and the latest NVIDIA driver is installed. You cannot run the Oculus headset if you uninstall the Oculus software. Oculus made a significant change in 1.26+, you cannot run the headset without home being up. I am pretty sure Oculus want to push their home rather than steam. Pre 1.26 you could stop oculus and run SteamVR by itself. Headset would be initialized.

Basically the vendors are not really helpful with the attitude. But neither is P3D v4.3 which is now launching both API in advance rather than staying on one. If there is a trick in one XML, drop me a line.

All started with 4.3, 4.2 was OK except the flickering buildings. This is now gone but I got the other issue.

Let us choose the VR suite in a XML, that will probably the best, rather than launching both.

Ok, I have uninstalled now SteamVR

Now I am really lost

I get an error when loading P3D. A P3D dialog box actually

"Your virtual device reported and error: VRInitError_init_VRClientDLLNotFound"

I then click OK and sim continues loading.
