[RESOLVED] KERNELBASE.DLL Errors - P3Dv3.2 Stops Working

Postby downscc » Mon Apr 11, 2016 1:43 am

Instead of adding to the already extensive post regarding CTD after a few hours I am starting a new thread in hopes I will receive some insight into the KERNELBASE errors. I have a new build, new P3Dv3.2 installers, brand new everything except my GTX980Ti and monitor. I have only two sessions with P3Dv3.2 and both have terminated with this error and both error signatures are the same:

A search of this forum reveal few posts regarding this error and no resolutions. A Google reveals a few that deal mostly with video drivers and corrupt user profiles, but I have a fresh download from NVidia of the 361.43 for Win10 and that seems to be a good version for many. The Win10 installation is a new install on a new empty SSD using a retail USB dongle, so I doubt that the first time I use P3D there is a user profile problem.

Both errors occurred while using an open window, the first was the dreaded PFD 2D popup in the NGX (BUT this is not a MSVCR120 error) and the second was the ASN wx report for destination. This points to a video driver error? Too many are using 361.43 for that to be an immediate suspect.

Googled exception code c0020001 and found a Microsoft Developer's blog cited by others that indicate this error is as a result of a call into managed code by a thread usually during shutdown (cbrumme: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/cbrumme/2003/04/15/error-c0020001/). To an amateur hobbiest programmer this tells me it is very likely that an unhandled exception was shutting down P3D and during the shutdown something happens and all Windows catches is that something happened and throws the KERNELBASE error. Great, how does one proceed.

My build is an i7-6700K not OC with 16GB DDR4 3300MHz memory running at stock 1076MHz speed on a new ASRock OC Formula with Corsair H115 liquid cooling. Nothing overclocked, all temps monitored because its a new build.

I am stumped. Looking for a good idea. Thank you,

I am somehow glad that I am not the only one experiencing this. But sorry I couldnt provide any solutions.

specs are
6500K oc'ed 4.2 Ghz
ATI 7870
16 GB DDR4 2600 Mhz

Looking forward if someone has any idea about this.

Based on a few things I've seen and a post in this forum, I have tried the video driver route. Used control panel to remove NVidia 361.43 and also deleted all files and folders from NVidia that I could find (Windows blocks a few so I left them). Rebooted. Installed same NVidia 361.43 using their clean install option.

I had a newer driver version originally in my new build and removed it with control panel only to roll back to 361.43, which I trust, and using the clean install option in the installer might not be enough. That's my hypothesis and I'm in my second session now testing to see if the problem resurfaces. Fingers are crossed.

Thanks for the answer! I am using ATI card though.

Also I often have CTD near TOD with PMDG T7. Nothing is recorded on appcrashview so I cant see what is the faulty module.

I did a clean install as well, W10 and P3D V3.2. CTD still exist.

Are you monitoring your VAS?

Yes. I monitored VAS. It has never been a problem, I use FSUIPC to monitor.

I dont know what else to do.

This thread was started to discuss a specific problem, part or your solution might be to start your own thread. You first need to be able to define the problem and lacking an event description you deserve your own thread to obtain different ideas on how to proceed. Good luck.

Update: No recurrence of problem that plagued every session then now after six sessions. Mark it RESOLVED.

Problem was either buggy video driver v364.xx or problems changing to different version resolved when all files manually deleted before installing 361.43. I've been advised by a good source that all Nvidia drivers 362..xx and later are problematic.

P3Dv3.2 behaving very well and performance is stellar.
