V4 High CPU usage

Postby BoeingG » Thu Jan 04, 2018 12:16 am

I was wondering if anyone else has been experiencing problems with P3Dv4 and its high CPU usage? Mine sits at 70-90% and doesn't decrease at all! Didn't have this issue with V3.

I don't think it's a hardware issue because of the latter.

Has anyone found any solutions? Thanks.

Is this causing you any problems?? yes P3D runs CPU0 very high , mostly 100% but with no problems. If your system is running all CPU's very high , then your settings are too high for your system.

In all honesty, it really varies between about 65% - 100%, upon closer inspection; not all cores are maxed out.

I've done some digging and found with labor intensive games like this that range is normal. Performance is not suffering and is, in fact, superb.

I'm just concerned this level of usage is abnormal and can cause harm (even despite these reassurances), though coming from V3 I suppose my outlook on these things could use some tweaking.

Greg , provided the CPu temperatures are withing reason (say max 75C ) it would be OK..no harm
