V5 Slew mode sudden runaway

Just had a bizarre incident as I'm getting V5 ready for actual use. Have recently installed all the available ORBX packages, and have been running through each airport to be sure the installs had performed correctly. I had the R22 loaded, viewed from the outside, and have been slewing about each airport for a quick look.
Today, touching any directional button would instantly propel the craft at a speed of more than 4,000 knots (as indicated in the upper left-hand corner of the screen)!! One touch of the button in the opposite direction of travel would bring the speed back to 0 -- but by then, I was already a county and a half distant! :/
Taking it out of slew mode, all seems normal. But as soon as I touch "Y" on the keyboard, it's off to the supersonic races again!
I have played about with settings and restarts, including switching aircraft, starting in a new location, restarting both P3D and the computer...
Any thoughts?? I don't use Slew often -- but right now, I'd like to keep doing so for my momentary tours of each airport. And of course, if it is troublesome to wonder if I might experience some similar artifact in normal flight later on..
