[RESOLVED] Terrain.DLL crash in P3D v4.4

Postby Ray Proudfoot » Sun Dec 09, 2018 12:00 pm

Just experienced my first crash with v4.4. Terrain.DLL.

My position was 1.6nm from LAGEN on a heading of 230 at a altitude of 33880ft. LAGEN is 25nm west of Genoa, Italy.

I can be that precise because I run a navigation program on a second PC. Aircraft was Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25.

Scenery installed is FTX Global, Ultimate Terrain Europe X. I will test again without UTX enabled but wanted to report anyway.

I've temporarily disabled all UTX scenery layers and repeated the flight. P3D v4.4 did NOT crash at the same point. Looks like it's an issue with UTX Europe.

Thanks AB. I only have a couple of Orbx packages - FTX Global and Pago Pago in the Pacific. Pretty sure it's not those causing the problem.

I'm reflying the route again after enabling all UTX Europe layers except Streams. No crash. I'll try again tomorrow with Streams enabled and if it crashes I know where to look.

Had the same issue years ago around Seattle. It was streams then. Probably no need to draw them with an aircraft at FL450!

Thanks for the report and taking the time to narrow down the issue. I recommend contacting the add-on developer as well to make them aware of the issue.

Hi Rob,

I've just flown the route again and even with Streams enabled in UTX Europe P3D didn't crash at that point. Just a one-off glitch I suppose. I've flown quite a few flights now with this scenery setup and no issues whatsoever.

This topic can be marked as resolved I think. Loving v4.4, thanks for all your efforts. It's very much appreciated.
