Application Hang

Postby Shamrock727 » Sat Apr 21, 2018 7:14 pm

Crash to desktop after crash to desktop with P3D V4.2!

After a full clean install of P3D V4.2 I am yet again plagued by an unknown CTD this time its to do with an application hang.

Upon finals into Minneapolis after an event free flight from London Heathrow, just entering in some information into the fmc (PMDG 777) the dreaded windows loading cursor appears, then the sim 'hangs' and keeps on hanging until it eventually crashes.

Sort your sim out LM! I know its not an issue on my side as I have spent countless hours over the past few days getting everything sorted and in order, making sure I installed compatible products and have tested it thoroughly.

I think you are coming to a conclusion that you did not support in your problem description. An application hang is literally an application waiting for something else to finish what it is doing and return control to the application. For example, nearing the airport P3D animation might encounter a long frame while scenery objects are loaded and rendered. If something was wrong with that then P3D would wait and wait. It does not mean P3D has a problem.

Most common problems like this are cause by addons, which you didn't list. SODE was known to cause this and has an update to solve the problem. If you are using Flightbeam KMSP then it has SODE and you said you ensured all was current but then left us to assume what "all" is. This is only one possibility of many.

I agree I jumped far too deep in a conclusion which was quite unnecessary with such a situation.

In regards to SODE, I will have a look for that update which fixes this issue and see if that solves it. I am however not sure that the airport had loaded in or not as I was still quite a bit away from it (just entering the BAINY hold at 22K).
