Runway is dry when it's raining

Postby BigT1965 » Wed Jun 26, 2019 4:56 pm

I just installed P3Dv4.5 recently. The other day I was flying when it started raining. When I landed I noticed that the runway was dry. No watery reflections but when watching from external view the tires were kicking up spray. What happened to the wet runway effect? Is this something I need to fix in my installation or was it removed by the developers? And if so is it going to be put back in? I really miss the wet effect. It seems that many others do to.

Am I the only one having this problem? or is it not a relevant issue for anyone else? I think when it's raining and the runway looks wet it adds a tremendous amount of realism to the experience. If it's something I need to fix in my installation I wish someone would let me know what it is.
Please.

Default runway textures do not include wet runways. It's been this way since the earliest days of MSFS and I don't expect a change with current methods.

There are 3d party scenery developers that are getting pretty good at displaying such things as puddles or blowing snow but don't ever expect this to be found in a default airport. There are just too many airports in the world to receive this kind of eye candy.

Thanks for your reply. I have been using MSFS since version 2 back in the 1980's. and FSX since it was originally released. And I was using P3D v4.0 prior to installing P3D v4.5. I don't still have P3D v4.0 installed so I was not able to go back and check but I am pretty sure I had wet runways with it. I do still have FSX installed so I did go back to check it and yes I have wet runways there on all default runways that I randomly checked and addon runways that come with ORBX scenery using default weather, ORBX weather or Active Sky weather. Other than ORBX scenery, some A2A airplanes, EZDok and Active Sky I don't have any other addons that might be giving me wet runways. I can't remember a time when I didn't have wet runways with FSX. I don't remember about previous versions of MSFS. I am pretty sure I stopped having wet runways when I switched to P3D v4.5 . Searching the internet I have found several posts about wet runways and P3D various versions. Some people were saying the same thing as me, that they had them and then they stopped having them. I wish I could find a solid answer/solution regarding this.

Hello BigT1965,

Have you tried unchecking dynamic reflections? Does this produce the effect you're looking for? Let us know.

Regards,
Brady

Yes I have tried turning off dynamic reflections. I see no difference between Ultra and Off. I have attached an FSX screenshot of rainy weather at a generic airport in Russia where I have no ORBX scenery except maybe Global Base.

Well, apparently I haven't figured out how to post a screenshot.
OK, I got it. Right click and open in a new tab.
