Hi Bigguy, thanks for your comments, which I kind of agree with. It is worth bearing in mind that these are full size screen shots, and that they pretty much show the default scenery with only the addition of Orbx FTX Global Base and which appears to make less of a difference in the large urban area...

Just for clarity, if installing by extracting from the zip file, the Academic 2.5.12944.0 Hotfix zip file contains 96 files... 59 of them go into the main Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 folder overwriting the files of the same name. 36 of them go into the Prepar3d v2\gauges folder, again overwriting. 1...

I'm running P3D v2.5 on a Windows 8.1 PC without any issues. Sure, there is a learning curve to go through with Windows 8 because of its interface design changes, but it is very stable, and the P3D 2.5 update is proving to be well worth the effort of it's required reinstall.
