Post Click spots problem in virtual cockpit.

Hi Guys,

You will probably direct me to Carenado's web site but ithought i would post here. I have ported Carenado's Piper Archer II over to prepar3D. Some of the click spots in the vc don't work, mainly the ones just out of reach. The solution is to adjust the seat position forward (not zoom) however this is not ideal. Has any thing changed between Prepar3D version 1.2 and 1.3 that would affect this ? The plane is a dedicated FSX model and not FS9. Other people have also noticed this and it doesn't seem specific to Carenado as other models are affected. Any thoughts ?
Thank you,

Cub 1.

Cub 1 ,
Just ran into this problem this morning when I first loaded up the C-337 Skymaster .I got a CTD when I tried to mess with the GPS . I think I read something concerning XML gauges(or something???) possibly on another forum so if I can hunt it down(my memory is shot) I'll pass it on . I have absolutely no idea if this relates to your problem or not because I really don't know squat about panel configurations , gauges etc . Sorry , I'm not much help . I'm a huge Carenado fan(185 , 337 and the Mentor) so I hope it get resolved soon .

In FSX and FS2004, if your view point goes into the seat, and you have Polygons (forward or rearward facing) between you and your clickpoint, the clickpoint is unable to be selected. This has always been an issue and I think there is no way around it. Its like 'line of sight', if something is blocking you, such as a yoke, throttle quadrant, or backwards seat polygon, then you cannot select those blocked selection points.

Head latency, during accelleration such as a take-off, might place your head behind the front row of seat polygons, causing this. You will need to counter it by moving forward before takeoff, as like some move up their seat to see over the dash on take-offs.

This also happens with 'close proximity objects that are also clickable. The closest objects tent to win an argument in click-ability.

This problem is also in the default Piper Cub when parked, from the rear seat only the throttle works and from the front seat nothing else works with the mouse. if you move your view forward you can get everything to work in the vc as normal expect in the default Piper Cub, there is almost nothing you can do to get the controls like the carb heat switch to work with the mouse.

Hey all,

I have been hearing about clickspot issues on a couple of planes.

It occurred to me that I had this issue with the Avelina several months ago during its build. I found I couldnt access the screen and a couple of constrols 'all the time'. Sometimes they worked, but usually not. I thought it was my code, but from the other side of the cockpit, the clickables functioned fine.

A real mystery.

I found out later that I had my Hierarchy boxes (small boxes tagged as 'exterior', pilot, co-pilot, interior cabin parts, etc). These, at least the 'exterior' node, must be located in dead center of the scene in Max, gMax, FSDS, etc.

Well, if the box uses polygons, then it is going to block anything between you and those clickables.

I found that if I went to Vertice mode, selected all vertices on the box, and moved them into the panel or floor, and saved, then reset the scale on the part, that I didnt have to worry about parts moving (like with the 'exterior' node). Thus you can move the mesh of the object without moving the object, so its center remains in the center of the screen.

Hope that helps. 1 US Dollar says that is the issue people are having, invisible cube nodes....

Thanks Bill for the explanation.

Do you know of a way to make it work with existing aircraft ( the noobie way ) as im not a modeller but i would love to get my C152 working in P3D with no vc issues as its the vc click spot issue that is stopping me making a full move to P3D.
