what is the difference between SimConnect_WeatherSetModeGlobal() and just setting the weather station to "GLOB" in the METAR data? Is one preferable/more powerful/etc. than the other?

WeatherSetModeGlobal just sets the mode to be global weather (meaning it will only use the GLOB weather station settings) - sending the GLOB station ID in a Metar string would be how you actually set what global weather settings you want. I would think you would need to use both.

a couple more questions...is it necessary to call WeatherSetModeCustom() when setting global weather with SimConnect or is it sufficient to call WeatherSetModeGlobal() in conjunction with "GLOB" in the metar string? will one override the other depending on the order that I call them in?
