Post [ANSWERED] ATC window upside down
on: October 2, 2012, 20:13

Hi,
I've got a strange issue with the ATC window. The ATC window itself has been under (justified) critique before, however I ran into a very special additional issue. When I open the ATC window, scenery is displayed upside down, while the ATC subwindow is rendered correct.
Image.
This is only in full screen mode, while in window mode both are rendered correct. I have to admit I use a special setup using a monitor (for flightsim training only) being installed upside down (because of mounting above a hardware panel). When I switch to this monitor, the image is turned by 180 degrees via the Nvidia driver. All programs so far respect this, including FSX and Prepar3D in general. Only exception I detected is the ATC window in fullscreen Prepar3D. Maybe you want to look into this. Thank you. Michael

Hello Michael, it has nothing to do with the ATC popup; You gave the answer yourself already....
I have to admit I use a special setup using a monitor (for flightsim training only) being installed upside down
So turn the monitor 180 degrees and you will have the ATC windows turned. You can drag this windows elsewhere)...or reset the Nvidia.

Hello Jan,
thanks for the reply. No doubt the ATC window would display correct after rotating the monitor by 180 degrees. However, it was not without a reason I installed the monitor that way (among others, it has a longer stand which would make a wide gap between the monitor and my XTOP panel). Given that all programs including Prepar3d and FSX (including FSX ATC window) in general work fine in windowed as well as in fullscreen mode with the rotated monitor I would expect something internally going wrong with just the Prepar3D ATC window display. Kind Regards, Michael

Hi,
anyone of the developers to comment on this? Is it really "forbidden" to turn the monitor upside down? Did I just make a silly fault? Can this be reproduced? Is there a workaround?

Thank you. BTW, otherwise I am quite content with Prepar3D 1.4. Kind regards, Michael

Hi pmb,

We were able to recreate the issue that you had and will look into a fix for future releases.
It seems as though all windows behave as expected until the ATC window is loaded and go back to the expected behavior when it is closed. Do you get the same result?

Thanks,
Justin

Hi Justin,
thank you for keeping an eye to the problem. Indeed, windows return to the normal behavior as soon as I close the ATC window. So far the ATC window is the only one showing this strange behavior.

As a sidenote, I am quite pleased with the performance of P3D 1.4 even with performance hungry sceneries like Aerosoft X cities.

Regards, Michael
