Post Automatic licence check!
on: September 16, 2012, 06:47

Hello dear P3D Team,

I'm a bit annoyed about the licence activation.
One thing is, that I have obvisously just one activation with the academic licencse, but ok, if you think that is necessary...

But what annoys me really is that manual licence activation.
Come on, every micky mouse company has an automatic activation system, shouldn't be too difficult to implement.
When do people change their systems: mostly on weekends, as I do, too.
So I have to wait now two days till someone at LM starts the next monday to check the activation requests.
(hopefully it is monday!)

What is also a bit odd is, that I just have reinstalled my OS and that leads to a reactivation.

Hope to get my reactivation tomorrow.
Sorry to sound a bit harsh, but this a real and complete unnessesary annoyance.

we'll see again in few weeks when I buy WIN8 ... :x

I agree. It is truly bizarre. I'm like you, with the weekend I had planned for a P3D reinstall now gone because there is no automatic licence reactivation.

I would avoid W8 if I were you. I have yet to find a review by a respected source which claims it any sort of improvement over W7. Furthermore re activation. I didn't like the MS way, 3 strikes and you had to call India. But this is worse 1 strike and you are out. They cannot claim piracy issues as FSX was not pirated very much, I'm not saying not at all, just not so much. Why, because the patches and Accel defeat all but the most ardent of pirates. Secondly, users of the sim tend to be older and more honest than gamers. Given that P3D is upgraded in stages, I would wager that most pirates have moved on to newer "challenges".

"I would avoid W8 if I were you"

I would not turn this into a Win8 discussion, but so far I'm very satisfied.
I currently test this till end of October to find out any issues. Therefore i will uninstall mz OS probably a few times.
That's why this one strike is so annoying...

Ive never had an issue reactivating p3d, if i know im going to do a format or change some hardware that will mean a clean install of windows and all my software i just email license support and explain why i need a new activation and they sort it out for me. I got my new hardware Saturday so i emailed them the day before and they sorted it in advance for me. Even the time i didnt plan ahead they sorted it for me in a couple of hours when i was expecting it to be closer to 24 hours :)

If you know that, you are lucky.
Normally I screw things up and decide then to reinstall whatever. I do not know that 24 hours before.
If some hardware fails, e.g. a HDD I also could get a new one within an hour (except sunday)

The only reason would be to buy a new computer what I do not do within an hour :)

Of course, it is possible to deal with the way it is, but it is not modern or practical.
Imagine end of october when many people maybe change to WIN8 - would LM handle then hundreds of reactivations manually?
Nice job :)

Beside the general problem, the manual activation was pretty fast!
Thanks for this!
