Post [ANSWERED] Multiple monitor views
on: September 3, 2012, 21:44

Hey all,

I am running 3 monitors off of a single ATI card and have been using the 3D cockpit views on all three to give me a nice wide view out of the cockpit. I would like, however, to use the 2d (snap) views so that I do not have any of the Cockpit items on the screen (outside only) but as most of us know, those are snap views when looking at any angle other than straight ahead and will not 'stick' in the angle views.

Is there any module or proggy that can get past this? or any suggestions.

Thanks,
Michael

Hey dancemad,

Have you tried specifying SnapPbhReturn = False and PanPbhReturn = False in your camera config? This should let you rotate your view on these cameras and have them stay in place when switching to other views. The SDK learning center also has a lot more info on setting up cameras that may be of use to you: http://www.prepar3d.com/sdk/sdk.php

Ok, I changed those to entries in the camera.cfg file, saved it and restarted everything. Still when I move my Hatswitch in 2D mode, I get the 'centered' snap.

When using the hat switch the camera will always revert back to its original orientation. To make a view stick in a certain direction you can use the mouse look feature by holding spacebar and moving the mouse on the desired window. When you let go of the spacebar the view should stay focused where you want it.

Ok, by the way, I really appreciate your responses. However, I would like my 3 screens to each have the 2D views WITHOUT any of the interior cockpit, and your suggestions seem to be for the 3D views.....If I could take out the fuselage in 3D, that would work as well, but I want ONLY to look outside at 100% zoom....;-)

No problem. To move your 2D views set PanPbhAdjust = Swivel in your camera config for the views you wish to move. Then you can use the num pad to move the views and they should stay put. Also, if you know the specific rotation you want ahead of time you can specify the InitialPbh of the view in the camera config as well.

hmmmm. Still snapping back when I release the number key in cockpit 2D view...;-) Maybe the "ShowAxis=FrontOnly" might have something to do with it always snapping back to front view?

Are you modifying the correct camera config file? If you are running Windows 7 / Vista it is located at: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D. You'll have to show hidden folders in order to see the AppData directory.

By default the 2D cockpit view will have PanPbhAdjust = Ordinal and PanPbhReturn = True. Changing these both to false should let you pan the camera around freely using the num pad (with num lock on).
