Post To tweak, or not to tweak- that is my question :D

Hi guys,
What are your experience with tweaking the p3d.cfg?
Is it necessary? Should I add the highmemfix or is it already included? (as an example)

I have just recently done a fresh install of Prepar3D and wondering if I should use the online tweaking tool for FSX online or not?

Thanks for input.

Hi Joachim,

actually seems that tweaking is encouraged. Affinitymask is suggested to be used to remove processes off your Core 0, and enable processes to run on only the physical cores - allowing you to keep hyperthreading enabled, but not to be used with Prepar3d. I also put the highmem in there, but i believe it is enabled as true by default - can't hurt though.

My other suggestion would be to consider rejectthreshold settings. These simple ones gave the most impact for me, but check out the Learning Center for more suggestions.

The online tweaking tools like Jesus' I find can provide a good guide to what's suggested, but manually do each tweak a step at a time and test them. Everyone's PC is just that little bit different so some work well but not so well for others.

Have "fun" tweaking! Just don't forget to do some flying.

Danny

Well said Danny and perhaps I should add, don't forget to back up your original Prepar3D.CFG before you start.

Tweaking can and does actually get in the way of using the sim and on the whole is unnecessary for most folks. Not to put a damper on it, I tweak myself but it is easy to get into the frame of mind of seeking the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow........

Most of the tweaking with the `other sim' was to fight off the come and go nature of blurries caused by poor tile rendering. Prepar3Ds tiles rendering is 100% better and imo there is zero need to tweak. I've run with a default cfg since buying Prepar3D months ago. You still get some some instances of blurries in Prepar3D but the rendering catches up very fast. It's usually in heavy areas or when switching in and out of the VC..

This is why I love Prepar3D... No tweaking. You just fly... That's all you need to worry about and nothing else. :)

And that just about sums it up. :-)

Great, thanks for these great replies! I will do minimal tweaking then, maybe just run the Online tool, like for FSX.

I appreciate it. Thanks
