Post Problems loading FSX mission
on: July 12, 2012, 10:56

Hello,

I have a mission that I had created in FSX, which used an external route file for the GPS and the autopilot to fly.

I placed this mission in the Prepar3d mission folder, but it doesn't show up in the mission list in-game. Also, I tried creating a route using the map, and it seems like the PLN format has changed from the one I was originally using.

Has the pln format changed? Also, is there any documentation about the blocks of options that show up in the flt file?

Thanks,
david

Plans and FLT in C:\Users\yourname\Documents\Prepar3D Files
Mission in a new folder e.g. in H:\missions\Emergency\new mission; Try mission Down Under

Hi Janvaane

I put my FSX FLT and PLN in the My Docs\Prepar3D Files folder, and I'm still unable to actually see them in the list of flights when I try to load. If I open the flight planner, I don't see the pln as an option to load it in there, either.

I had a look at the PLN files from FSX and a new one I made in P3D and they look *completely* different.

Would like some confirmation that this is the case and I'm still not just missing something dumb. I would be more OK with it trying to load and giving me an error instead of seeing nothing at all.

Thanks,
david

You don't have to copy/move your FSX flights to P3D location
: the files that you have saved using P3D are stored in C:\Users\your_name\Documents\Prepar3D Files and
recalled by Load >>Flight>>My saved flights
The flights that are saved in FSX location C:\Users\your_name\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files are recalled by Flight/Flight Planner/Load/Browse to that location...Select the flight >> OK >>OK ...done
When you have saved a flight in FSX AND the aircraft is unknown in P3D you get a Aircraft initialization failure; say Close, and wait for the sim to load the terrain and scenery and for the surprise in which aircraft you are.

Hi Jan

I don't have FSX installed in the same computer as P3D. Trying to move to only P3D for this project, so we won't be using both. I figure the plane error would be ok if the models aren't the same, but I just don't understand why the FSX FLT doesn't even show up... should I create a Flight Simulator X Files folder and put that old mission in there?

Thanks again
