Post Its ALIVE! Some real helicopters for Prepar3D!!

Doing some testing with P3D today, I finally got around to loading a few of our helicopters into the sim, so far not one problem that I can find, they work with no issues! Now to find some commercial customers....

You should try the ND SA2 Samson our newest release and see if you have the same experience, with every helicopter we learn new things, this one was a lot of improvements on FPS, we also offered a low res set for those with lower spec computers :)

It was definitely a risk from a business perspective, but one that paid off thankfully :)

Listen aussiecop(hope ur not really a cop), if you have some time, could u answer a few questions for me. I understand if u dont want to, most developers sit on information because it is their livelyhood. I have been learning about modeling by trial and error. I started with scenery but am working my way up to aircraft. When creating a panel...I read that you need to put the $texture behind the panel. I only got it to work by placing the $texture in front of the panel. Which is correct? Also....who creates the guages for nemeth? Being a modeler and a texture designer, I dont know if i can manage to learn guage programming as well but might have to. I had to borrow some guages from the md6 for testing so if i can find some useable guages, the sub could be fun freeware.

It might not look like much but it is the best ive ever done with a panel. The model is just for fun so dont judge too harshly.

It looks like you're off to a good start. If you put the $texture behind your panel, you'll need to make sure the panel has some transparent sections or geometric holes cut into it. If your panel is flat, then you could just put the $texture in front. You could even texture it onto the panel itself but that's usually not the most efficient use of texture space.

There is also a new RenderToTexture feature that you might want to play with. You can edit one of your aircraft.cfg's camera definitions such that it will render into a $texture that you can use with your model. You can even apply a basic IR sensor effect or colorize it to grayscale/greenscale. Just don't use the same texture as your panel because the RenderToTexture view will override it. Check the learning center and SDK for more details.

Alternatively, you could also model "gauge shaped polys" on which to project the gauges. This what I've been calling the "cookie cutter method" for the past decade... ;)

Anyone who really wants to learn about XML gauge scripting or C/C++ gauge coding should spend some time reviewing posts at any/all of the following website's dedicated forums:

Well Atorque, it appears Beau answered everything the same way I was going to so there you have it. No judgement, everyone has to start somewhere mate, you should have seen my first FS9 paints I did, they were horrible, but someone was at least there to help. You will find that yes, some developers are closed door, I like to be as helpful as possible unless it's full blown proprietary effects or features modeling. Oh and yes, I am actually a cop it's not just a name.

Aussie could this be payware? Think the quality is up to scratch if i sell it for like ten bucks a pop? Still gotta build my own guages and finish the config file and stuff but its my first complete scratch build.

Hi Rich,

Is this a helicopter on the market or direct from your imagination? sorry I just might not be familiar with the type but the rotors look like they have a hinge half way down? Odd looking bird, looks like an Enstrom and Bell 47 made sweet love lol
