There are two issues with the PMDG 747 in p3d. The ND has a track offset problem, which you can resolve by renaming p3d.exe as fsx.exe. And the engines spool up very slowly during takeoff, which I wasn't able to resolve.

I think there a lot of small under the hood problems with fsx aircraft in prepar3d, which can only really be resolved by the developers developing directly for p3d. This is, I think, especially the case for complex aircraft like the pmdg 747.

Bryn.

Thanks for your replay, do you own the NGX? Because it works fine but I presume the 747 might have some problems because is older maybe the fact, is that I not longer use FSX and I don't want to end up purchasing the 747 and be unable to properly use it on P3D

I have the PMDG 737NGx and it works fine - good framerates and fully functioning. The PMDG 747-400X on the other hand has poor framerates and seems to frequently be the reason for a crash to the desktop. 747 seems to consume much more memory judging on system monitoring tools.

My opinion - NGx definitely worthwhile, but not so taken with the 747x performance in Prepar3d.

Just tried deleting the shaders folders to have them rebuilt, and suddenly the 747 is performing like a different animal. Added the McPhat textures and it all now runs awesome. Can therefore now recommend both!
