How about Lockheed deveoping a new Vatsim Client, and an IVAO client, and a FSHOST client, and a Pilot Edge Client --- where would that stop ?
Surely is up to these organizations to to create their own interface to P3D, if that is what they want.
If Lockhhed spent all it time providing such interfacing in it's CORE product, that is probably all they would end up doing, and P3D would never advance as a Sim.
I would suggest that VATSIM, (for example), needs to develop a Client that they can support . Actually, don't they already have all of DeYoung's code for Squawkbox (or could get it if they wanted) .. its probably just a questuion of determining the need to update it, and then finding someone who is willing to donate the time.
IVAO seem to be more on top of things, and seem able to support their own servers interacing to FSX.
Pilotedge the same, they seem to be able to inteface to FSX, FS9 and X-plane. If they wanted to, I suspect that P3D would be an almost trivial addition. The PiotEdge programmer seems pretty capable
At the moment, one can fly on Vatsim with both FSX & P3D. Yes, P3D needs a little configuration, but thats just a question of documenting the configuration procedure, and making it available . (or somene writing some code to do it programatically).
Actaully, more of an issue on vatsim, is the poor support for FSX (and P3D) SHARED COCKPIT. If something needs to be done by vatsim itself, its intergating this great feature more seamlessly into Vatsim.
Just my 2 cent. ( I do not speak for any of theses organizations, but I do fly on them, WITHOUT any difficulties). |
