Post Could it be?, is it true?, a fix for the G3D.DLL crash

Hi,

Looks like Pete Dowson found a way to trap and prevent P3D from crashing from the dreaded g3d.dll error. The fix is in his latest offering of FSUIPC (ver. 4.827) and is available for download at his website.

Yes, it's true. FSUIPC can catch "certain" G3D.DLL pointer errors, and stop them from crashing the sim.
I believe he has offered to share that information with Lockheed, but I have not heard is Lockheed has done anything within P3D to either stop the errors, or to trap them as Pete does.

The G3D bad pointer trapped and crash prevention has been in FSUIPC for quite some time now, maybe even prior to P3D ?

Pete is a great partner for Prepar3D, and has shared his details with us. In the interest of getting you all a patch sooner than we can, Pete has put out a fix. So, make sure you thank Pete :)

Yes, it was in the original code before it was P3D. The team have the info and are investigating the cause with a view to fixing it.

That's LM, not MS. Not surprised even a bit.
